County Antrim at its highest
Trostan is the highest ground in County Antrim and the Antrim Hills. It adds a different northern landscape to a county challenge that might otherwise be dominated by the Mournes. The Moyle Way provides useful context for this part of the Glens of Antrim, but the long-distance trail and a visit to the actual county top are separate planning decisions. Give the summit its own place in your walking record.
Before you go
Plan your visit
Read the current Moyle Way information before selecting an approach to Trostan. OutmoreNI describes rough, wet upland terrain and the need for full navigation skills in poor weather. High Point Ireland recommends OSNI Discoverer Sheet 9 or the Glens of Antrim activity map. Check the summit against the route you intend to follow: a trail through the wider hills is not automatically a visit to the highest point.
