County Clare at its highest
Moylussa is County Clare's high point and the highest entry in the Slieve Bearnagh Mountains. It gives the county challenge an inland upland destination, distinct from Clare's familiar coastal attractions. There is a useful wrinkle for careful summit collectors: High Point Ireland publishes two grid references under the same mountain entry. Make that part of your preparation and journal, rather than assuming that every source means one identical point on the ground.
Before you go
Plan your visit
Consult a current detailed map and the specialist listing before deciding which summit location you intend to record. High Point Ireland gives R648759 and R651756 for Moylussa and recommends Discovery Sheet 58. Use the two references to understand the summit area, not as walking directions. Check the access arrangements for your chosen approach locally and settle your summit-list convention before travelling, particularly if you are following a different challenge organiser's rules.
