County Laois at its highest
Arderin is the highest ground in the Slieve Bloom Mountains and represents both Laois and Offaly in the county challenge. The range stands apart from Ireland's larger coastal mountain groups, bringing the project into the central plain. Sport Ireland describes a wider landscape of forest, moorland ridges and glens. That regional walking network gives useful context, while the county-top objective needs its own precise destination and access check.
Before you go
Plan your visit
Use a detailed map to distinguish Arderin from the longer Slieve Bloom Way and other walks in the range. High Point Ireland recommends Discovery Sheet 54. Discover Ireland's scenic Glendine route provides regional context around Arderin, but a driving itinerary is not a summit route. Confirm the county boundary and summit convention you intend to record, then check the chosen walking approach with current local information before relying on an older account.
