County Leitrim at its highest
Leitrim's high point is on Truskmore's southeast slope, rather than at the higher main summit. This is one of the challenge's clearest examples of a county boundary determining the objective. High Point Ireland lists the Leitrim location separately at 631m. Researching only the name Truskmore can therefore lead to the wrong assumption about both height and destination. Keep the slope point distinct from Sligo's summit when building your personal record.
Before you go
Plan your visit
Study the county boundary and the slope location on a sufficiently detailed map before choosing an approach. High Point Ireland gives G763471 for Leitrim and recommends Discovery Sheet 16; Sligo's main summit is listed separately. These grid references identify the research area and are not a navigable route. Current access and summit-approach arrangements were not independently verified here, so confirm them locally instead of assuming that reaching the mountain's infrastructure grants onward access.
