County Sligo at its highest
Truskmore's main summit is the high point of County Sligo and the northwestern Dartry Mountains in High Point Ireland's classification. It is closely associated with Leitrim's challenge entry, but those two counties do not use the same location or height. The Sligo objective is the higher main summit; Leitrim uses a point on the southeast slope. That is an especially useful distinction to preserve in a journal that tracks counties separately.
Before you go
Plan your visit
Use detailed mapping to locate the main summit at G759473 and distinguish it from the separately listed southeast-slope point. High Point Ireland recommends Discovery Sheet 16. Check the intended approach and current access arrangements before travelling; the presence of mountain infrastructure or a track on a map does not itself create walking permission. If planning both county entries, treat them as two precise locations to research, rather than assuming one summit photograph establishes both.
